Title: Endangered Animals and Dreams
Materials: Digitally enhanced pencil and marker renderings printed on tracing paper fixed to a rice paper parasol
The parasol features the pine marten, an animal whose fur is prized by humans. The topside of the parasol is a depiction of the way things have become because of the bad habits of humans and the impact on this endangered species and its environment. The underside of the parasol is more of a fantasy of what the animals' habitat could be.
Yvonne Poon is a graphic artist currently working in advertising and administration. She holds a diploma in Digital Media Arts, and has also studied fashion design. Yvonne was also a comic book colourist for over five years, working on several comics such as Shidima, Neon Cyber, Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She draws inspiration from her cats, art toys, Japanese anime and manga, travelling and artists such as Nathan Jurevicius and Camille Rose Garcia.
