The concept for this piece was based simply on the idea that the interplay between the urban environment and the 'wilderness' is more expansive and diverse than people often tend to think. The fox, an animal generally associated with pristine wilderness, is also, though rarely seen, an animal that thrives in some of our largest cities. The image of this animal wading through black water (representative of the sometimes less-than-pristine state of the urban landscape) is meant as a reminder of just how far-reaching human activity can be on a vast array of wildlife.
