This pair of rubber boots have been systematically cut away to create a fragile rubber skeleton. The cut away boots evolved from an interest in exploring the object and the function of the boot itself and by negating that function – in this case by piercing its waterproof surface – the boots are portrayed in a different light outside of a purely functional perspective. This becomes a platform to consider not only the rubber boot and its function but further, the relationship humans have to environment and the desire to be both immersed in it and yet comfortably separated from it.
