Wattwize works with classes and EcoTeams (or a combination of the two) to engage them in a structured energy conservation project. In this participatory program, students evaluate their school’s energy consumption; create an energy conservation plan; and then implement their plans to reduce their school’s GHG emissions.

The FREE program consists of:

1) Introductory Workshop (60-74 minutes) facilitated by CEW staff

2) A teacher-facilitated energy audit using CEW resources: online guidebooks and energy meters (3 donated if needed)

3) CEW-facilitated Conservation Plan Creation Workshops for EcoTeams (New)

4) Ongoing (year-round) support for conservation plan implementation (New)

5) A chance to win the Conservation Champions Prize ($1,000)

Program Start Date: February 3, 2010

Cost: Free for Durham, Peel, Toronto, York (and Catholic equivalent) school Boards

Grade Levels: Grade 5 -12
